When God closes one door, He will open a window.

Thanks to God who gave me courage, strength and faith to go through the great sufferings!
God bless you all. April 20 Tibetan dream soon come trueHi my friends,
I will go on a trip to Tibet from tomorrow. It will be a looooong holiday. So I may not be able to see you for a while.
Sometimes we are lost and think traveling, a way of moving ourselves physically, will give us a clearer mind. Sometimes we are bored and believe a long exotic trip would bring us new inspirations. Sometimes we have no other choices but traveling, hoping an abrupt turn in our life journey would lead us to a suprisingly exciting new world......
And sometimes, my friend, I just need you to leave me a message so that I know I still have you in my audience!
Have a great May holiday (including those in other countries)!

April 19 Strawberry PickingSounds ironic but it's true--that I've never before picked any fruit or vegetables on farms. The strawberry picking event that we did last weekend was a milestone for this type of outdoor activity.
The first surprise for me was that strawberries in fact grow on the ground, and not on trees! So many cute strawberries were lying on the ground, smiling at you and hoping to be seen. I found that the strawberries which had struggled to stick out of leaves were bigger and redder. This instinct of striving for more air, water and sunshine helped them stand out.
We picked for more than an hour. My harvest was a basket of strawberries that weighed 3.5 kg. No one could resist the temptation of these cute sweet strawberries. So we ate some of them while we were picking. "Walking on the country road, listening to the singing of the shepherd boy, lalalala... we are singing with the flute..." April 10 Housing price in HaikouDuring one week in Haikou, I did some field research about the local real estate market. On the Haidian island where some chief government officers reside and many new residential buildings are under development, this land has attracted more and more people from local and other regions to make investments. The per square meter price ranges from RMB 2,000 to RMB 5,000 with an average around RMB 3,000. 15 minutes walk to the beach, 10 minutes walk to the eco-park which is still under construction, 15 minutes walk from the cross-island bridge... There are many reasons why one should own an apartment in Haidian island. Plus, you can provide a winter & summer resort for your parents, relatives and friends if you don't plan to rent it out all the year round.Anyways I am not selling you anything because I didn't apply for the Miss Sales job. I just want to share with you some information which I perceive is valuable. And remember, to a large extent, the housing price also depends on the development of the local economy essentially, which I believe, will turn out in good shape. And this belief derives from the trust in the local authorities who are now striving to develop an economically, socially and ecologically sustainable Hainan! Last but not the least, wouldn't it make you feel good that you can afford a small, fully-equipped apartment in Hainan? With this type of money, you can't even buy a bathroom in Shanghai! December 18 Annual Training in Xiamen - What a fun training!Three and half day training plus one day sightseeing, this is the concept of our company winter training this year.
Well, let me breif you what I have done in the training.
1. I gave a presentation in junior group about an interesting topic, MS. Please figuire it out by yourself if you don't know any marketing research language.
2. I went to a bar called "Night Shanghai" in Xiamen. Huh, this is the whole idea of travelling from Shanghai to Xiamen! I don't remember exactly how many cups I drank, probably more than 20. Don't get me wrong. I mean 20 very small cups of cocktail and I was forced by a couple of very aggressive and persistent girls.
3. I couldn't walk in a straight line but found a taix to transport my colleagues and myself to a KTV. Ironically, we didn't find our Shanghai team but ran into the room packed with our Beijing staff. What a surprise! I guess all of us were a little bit drunk. Okay, since I was there, why didn't I sing a song? Very soon, I found myself holding the microphone and making some noise Not bad, at least I made myself safely back to the ferry and our hotel in Gu Lang Yu.
4. Next morning, I heard someone in the Beijing office took a wrong ferry and got on another island. More interestingly, a guy got really drunk and told another guy who put him to bed that "Honey, Trust me, I wouldn't get into any love affairs".
5. In the night after, I had the most fun party I have ever had. It's not just a party, it was a teamwork event as well. We spent the afternoon in making a food platter, most likely the most innovative one that you've ever seen and rehearsing our show incorprating one very interesting market research methodology. Our teamwork turned out to be a big success. We won the second prize, but with some personal sacrifice. I had a faked wedding ceremony with our team leader. You'll get a better sense once you see the pictures.
Enjoy the photoes I just updated. And enjoy the winter fun!!! November 26 A relaxing weekendNo OT this weekend.
What did I do?
I took one of my youngest colleagues to Star Gym and played bowling on Friday evening. Although it was the first time for her to touch a bowling ball, she did pretty well! In the beginning, all balls that she threw ran into the gutter, then she got her fist spare and eventually her first strike. Seeing one person growing, no matter at work or playing bowling makes me feel happy.
On Saturday, as usual, I had a lunch, a combination of buffet, BBQ and hot pot with my family. And then I went to the oil painting class and spent the rest of the afternoon there. Although I did Chinese painting for several years in elementary school, sketching is still the baby step that I need walk before I get into more serious stuff.
Overall, it was a relaxing and slow weekend. It's 9:00 pm now. How should I spend the rest of tonight? What about a little skeching and singing?
Wish all my friends, near or far, find wonders in their lives and enjoy every day freely with the people they love. October 15 Cambodia
9/28 Flight from Bangkok to Siam Reap
Cambodia, a country which suffered so much in the Khmer Rouge period, is recovering slowly but remaining its painful memory of that horrible time in the late 17s. The cruelness was even worse than that during the Cultural Revolution in China. --- After reading “First They Killed My Father” by Oung Ung.
It was still rain season. So seeing sunrise or sunset in Angkor Wat is considered to be a luxury. I was lucky to see the sunrise, not on Mt. Bakeng but an ordinary rice paddy. It was still beautiful. The clouds were dyed with dynamically changing color of the brush of the sun, a great artist of the nature. It is also a magician, keeping changing the masks on his face within seconds, from bright red to dark red, to orange, to yellow, to a space of emptiness eventually.
I love Cambodian kids. You can hear “one dollar please, one dollar please” everywhere. And that sound came from kids who carried merchandise such as books or bracelets. Compared with them, I am a truly lucky girl. I didn’t have to wake up early in the morning, trying to sell my goods to tourists even when they shook their heads and waved their hands, sending out all kinds of signals of “No” and “Don’t bother me”. Kids in Cambodia take turns to go to school for only half a day every day. They spend the other half days working or just playing around. I saw naked little boys sitting on the handle of a bridge. Once a tuk-tuk approached them, they jumped into the river with all kinds of gestures. Maybe this was just a little fun for them to get foreign passengers wet. I think this way of catching attentions is also cute.
The favorite pictures I took in Cambodia are the little girl who was lying at a door in the temple and holding a blue plastic bag. I didn’t know what were in that bag. But I could tell her tiredness and sadness through her freezing eye sight and frowned eyebrows.
I like looking at things from different perspectives. And since childhood, I have been dreaming about taking a hot air balloon up to the sky. I realized this dream in Angkor Wat. I got a chance to see Angkor Wat not only at a foot step away but miles away from the sky.
The floating village is also a nice place to experience the local life. Sitting on the head of the boat and looking at the sun sinking into the water behind of the bushes, I felt I was like a child. This feeling got even stronger when I saw kids playing in the water. In one moment, I had an emotion to jump to the little tubs that they were sitting in. I wanted to float like a coconut.
The black and grey color of Angkor Wat, the jade green rice paddy and trees, as well as the smiling or sad faces of kids, all imprinted in my mind, telling me the stories of an old and new Cambodia.
Thailand – Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Nan Yuan
September 25 Flight from Bangkok to Samui
² Jungle Safari – made the most fun of it! Elephant riding, crocodile show, waterfall trekking, grandma & grandpa rocks, monkey show (coconut picking), lunch on the top of the mountain, secrete garden, big Buddha, etc. The rocky truck ride itself was just so much fun! ² Tried two pieces of durian – it’s actually not that bad. At least it is called The King of Fruits ² Als Resort – the room is right on the beach. Jet Ski…is cool. ² Catamaran – very advanced and fast but threw up three times during two hours. A little tip that I learned: try to find a seat in the middle of the boat. ² Koh Tao – Charm Chree, a beautiful and exclusive villa resort. Chaba Seafood Restaurant: lying on the triangular chair, listening to the waves gently crashing on the rocks, breathing the smell of the sea water, tasting the freshest fish and fruit drinks…. Such a romantic place. I felt asleep for half an hour in my chair as it was just too comfortable. ² Nan Yuan – a beautiful small island with super white and soft sand. Did snorkeling for two hours. Love the feeling of freedom when swimming without a life vest. Saw fish with different color and shapes. Tried to catch them but failed every time I held my fist. Coral reefs are beautiful but I got three cuts on my feet by shells. Love snorkeling and feel I will love diving once I get started ² Long-tailed boat – Sitting on the boat I felt I was living in a fairy tale, riding a small boat to a remote island while the fresh wind softly blew my long black hair and salty sea water splashing on my face. Looking at the big red ball making a fire in the blue sky, I wanted to shout: “I am coming, my love!” ² Missed the flight – 15 minutes late caused 8 hour delay to Siem Reap. The worst was that I was still asking for a window seat, hoping to see the sunrise after I get on the airplane when we checked in. This really drove people crazy. But trust me, I really didn’t know the captain wouldn’t let us board in that moment.
P.S. Although the flights were delayed, we were still quite happy that day because of our positive perspectives and mutual understanding. Thank you! Thailand - BangkokPlease find pictures in photo albumns.
9/21 1:00 am arrived in Bangkok.
² Thailand - the country of smiling ² Warm-hearted Eki who helped me find my hotel, buy calling cards and shared with me his experience and knowledge (also working in marketing research and studied in the US) ² Wat arun – Temple of the dawn ² Shy taxi driver who taught me how to say “1”to “10”and rejected singing Thai Song for me while I sang Chinese songs for him! ² The most popular logo – “Long lives the King” ² Wild dogs every where – lying on the ground and enjoying lives just like Thai people ² Chatukchat market – spent two hours walking around but still didn’t get to where the souvenirs are displayed ² Beautiful Thai dancing (Monkey, etc. Don’t remember the others) – but in the cost of bending fingers since childhood ² Grand Palace – the first time being blamed because of using flash on my camera. Now I know that flash can cause damage on paintings. ² Suan Lum Night Bizarre – a nice place to hang out for a couple of beers and live music; also a great back up for Chatukchat market if there is no time for shopping ² The most peaceful coup in the world – female soldiers were sent to replace males; the King ordered soldiers to keep smiling; kids and tourists took pictures with tanks and soldiers guarding the tanks ² New airport – I experienced the new airport in Thailand on its first official day of operation. Felt honored that my backpack was the last one coming out on the convey belt. ² Thai massage – the girl said that she really liked my skin color. I was in doubt since my skin got really dark in the end of the trip. Then she pointed out my belly, “I like that part.” Thank you, this is the whitest part after I got sunburn.
P.S. My mom said that I didn’t need to wear any underwear after I showed her my butt. Looking at the mirror, I told myself that at least my butt could tell how white I used to be. October 08 Writing in VietnamFrom Shanghai to Bangkok, from Bangkok to Samui, from Samui to Siem Reap, from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh, then Dalat, Nha Trang, and now in Hanoi... What a trip!
Now I am writing my blog in my hotel near the Chinese Ambassy in Hanoi. Overall the trip is a good one, especially in Thailand and Cambodia. But it seems trouble never stop harassing me since I landed in Vietnam. Hope I will be able to return to Shanghai as planned.
I am still keeping looking for the 4-year old Vietnamese boy with a big forehead....But then I found many Vietnamese boys do have big foreheads but none of them looks like him, even a little bit.
Dear friends, be prepared for a bunch of pictures in next couple of weeks.
